I think this was the old telephone exchange, both properties flattened along with a
bungalow to the left.

This "cheap shop" was great for end of line, discontinued food products etc,
good bargains. I believe they were forced to close because of increased rent /lease.
Rumour has it that this has recently happened to businesses in the Meridean centre--
